Add a warm soaking bath to your daily routine to remove toxins.

Detoxifying the body through bathing is an ancient remedy that anyone can perform at home. Your body needs help to rid itself of toxins caused by antibiotics, our life style and chemicals that build up in the body.

Your skin is known as the third kidney; toxins are excreted through sweating. A detox bath will assist your body in eliminating toxins, as well as absorbing the minerals and nutrients that are in the water through your skin. Detox gradually and slowly adjusting the temperature of water and length of time in the bath, increasing with each bath or foot bath. Starting with a detox footbath might be a good place to start allowing you to work up to a full bath. Your feet are very sensitive. To test this theory for yourself place a garlic clove in your sock. Within a short amount of time you can actually taste garlic in your mouth. I bet you had no idea just how much power you have in your feet to detox.

Remember if you have city water with no filters your water could contain toxic chemicals. (Fluoride and chlorine for example) Chlorine is bad for you, especially in the shower or bath where it gets absorbed into the skin and can be breathed in. If you do not have a full house water filteration system you can use an inexpensive shower filter and fill your bath with the shower head.

It is a good idea to always wash your feet after a foot detox and rinse off after a detoxing bath. You want to remove any toxins that were released through your skin.

Detoxing Bath Recipe

Honey footbath recipe. 1/2 cup of Epsom salt, 1/4 cup of baking soda, 10 drops of tea tree oil, 10 drops of peppermint oil, 1 tablespoon of ground ginger, 1 cup of honey, 1 cup of dried buttermilk powder and 1 tablespoon of almond oil. The salts and baking soda help draw out the heavy toxins and metals from the body through the feet naturally. The tea tree oil and honey have antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that help kill harmful germs and fungus on the feet. The peppermint and ginger in the soak help relieve aches and pains due to the anti-inflammatory properties in them. The almond oil and dried buttermilk powder is used in the soak to help soften and soothe the rough, dry skin on the feet naturally. Note: unpasteurized honey is better at killing bacteria. Use enough hot water to fill a footbath. Add ingredients and soak for 30 minutes. Double the ingredients if you want a full detoxing/relaxing bath.

Detoxing Bath Add Ins

You can add one or 3 or even 4 items to your bath and even add an essential oil to make it smell nice or relax or to rejuvenate.

Epsom salts in a footbath or bath is by far one of the cheapest and easiest things you can use to detox. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. When it is absorbed through the skin, it draws out toxins from the body, sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles, is a natural emollient, exfoliator, and much more. It also replenishes magnesium in your body. Experts believe that bathing with Epsom Salt at least three times a week helps you to look better, feel better and gain more energy. Magnesium ions also relax and reduce irritability by lowering the effects of adrenaline. It lowers blood pressure, creates a relaxed feeling, improves sleep, concentration, and helps muscles and nerves to function properly.

Apple Cider Vinegar. Use 2 to 4 cups. This will help to restore your body to its natural ph. It will help with skin itching, sunburn, vaginial and bladder infections, fungus and bacteria.

Baking Soda and Sea Salt (2 cups of each) or up to 8 cups of baking soda per bath if using it alone. This helps to reduce the alkaline in the body which reduces most acute symptoms. Baking soda helps maintain pH balance. It neutralizes acidic and alkaline substances. It is also good in the bath because it also gets rid of body odor and cleanses the skin. Salt will release micro-minerals.

22 Mule Team Borax Use 1/2 of an average box in the bath water to help prevent fungus, bacteria and parasites. 1/4 box added to a foot bath. You can buy Borax an any grocery store or any major chain super store. It is located in the detergent isle.

Vinegar. While there's no direct evidence that a vinegar soak can cure nail fungus, some studies have shown that it can inhibit the growth of certain bacteria.
