Happy Gut

"All Disease Begins in the Gut"

Hippocrates

The first step to true healing begins in the Gut. The Food Revolution has an amazing article. Read it, print it, learn it, live it.

As with everything it is good to educate yourself. I love this article but I want to add a few of my takeaways. First soy needs to be eaten with caution. Check to make sure it is GMO free. Soy is one of the top GMO’s plants. GMO plants are harder for your body to read and understand as actual food as the genetic makeup has been altered. If you eat any type of soy make sure you know your products.

Next Kefir. If you have a yeast overgrowth you will want to refrain from eating Kefir. Also depending on who you talk to Kefir is one of

those things that is definitely not for everyone.

According to the article probiotic bacteria had the highest rates of survival when taken within 30 minutes before or simultaneously with a meal or drink that contained some fat.

Another cool fact is that fermented foods are much better than a supplement at building a healthy Gut environment. A cap full of fermented foods equals a whole bottle of a probiotic supplement. Just like Kefir, before you start eating fermented foods make sure you do not have a yeast over growth. Think about switching up your probiotics. In other words, do not keep using the very same product with the same strains. Think of a sewsaw. Like a seesaw if you consume too much

of one probiotic your gut will be off balanced. So, choose your supplements wisely.
